My praymantis arrived, granted he/she is alot tinier than. It's a marbled mantis and when it grows up is should look a little like this at the moment it's no bigger than my thumbnail, but already has personality, it followed my figer stroking it with it's antennae... | well i'm using a large plastic sweet jar to keep it in(has a mesh lid) for one this small you need fruit fly to feed it, but fully grown you can feed them maggots, small crickets and even the odd butterfly/moth.
However some countries/states don't let you keep certian insects as pets, but in te UK as long as it's not venimous you can keep it with out a liscence.
This one is way smaller than i was expecting though, i thought it would be about an 1nch big, but it's microscopic at the moment, very active though and a beautiful milk jade colour.

| My best friend in second grade had a mantis. I can't remember if it's one she caught (we used to find them all the time) or if she and her parents bought it somewhere. Neatest little critter ever. They're awesome pets. XD Just beware if you have large, four-legged things. | |

not until it's fully grown, females are bigger than males, adult males often extremely decrotive wings, more like a butterflies. At this stage it's impossible to tell what gender the little one is...though we've taken to calling it a him.
