Racial Rules

Race boundries.
Choosing a kind of insect/arachnid you want is only for showing what that creature was based off of. As we want to be realistic but still fantasy. So all spiders are still Arachin. Just because I call Ben a Raft Spider does not mean he is a different race than Loment. They are both Arachins. Just different kinds.
I just wanted people to make characters based on real animals so that it is realistic in some ways. So we can have say a Luna moth but you want it to have Zebra Swallowtail markings and Monarch colors. Well it isn't a Hybrid! Its just a Lepidoran. Cross race offspring are still considered whatever their mothers race or which ever parent it most resembles. Even if the father is a Hyme and the mother is a Rhoparan. However, if we do eventually want to explore the route of 'hybrid children' that will have to be farther down the line once we have established more of this world. So you don't have to mention the insect or arachnid except to show the reference you used. Also no really totally unnatural looking babies okay. Keep some things as real as possible. Thats why we use actual bugs for these. And before someone calls me on Loment the big GAY pink and purple Golden Orb Spider. He is PAINTED! Thats right. he decks himself out in body paint. And makes his little band of bastard spiders be painted too. it like a gang affiliation thing...

Also you can have anything from in the Arthropod family. If it looks like a bug. I'll allow it. But ask first just to make sure.
After all I do have a Velvet worm. And that isn't even in the Arthropods either.
But no fake animals. So NO Pokemon. Sorry but it isn't real. So do not want.
But you can have a character that is an amalgamation of things from one race.
ie: Melon. Melon is in the grouping of Grasshoppers, crickets, and locusts. However, Melon himself is not one specific actual species. I used bits and pieces I liked from various animals of that group. But no crossbreeds. So no Ants with butterfly wings and Dragonfly tails. It can only look like another race if it is based on a Mimic insect. Aka Trush looks like an Apocrin even though he is an Arachin because he is based on a Spider that mimics an Ant.

Most Meddians have what is called a 'Latch' which protect their genitalia. Though some do not. Some have external genitals or some have a Sheath instead of a Latch. This is made of flesh rather then Chitin. Males with sheaths or external reproductive parts cannot bear young.

The latch itself is like a cover, it can be pulled away and even slid inside either the specially slit inside the wall of a female's vagina or the wall of a male's the pseudo cavity.

Both males and females with Latches can bear children. Those born without latches can only bear young if they are female or herm.

On Males the cavity is like a cloaca so the penis is hidden inside and then slides out when erect or when pushed out voluntarily. When acting as a 'uterus' the cavity expands upward into the position of a real uterus. In this case the penis is no longer in the cavity and is infact outside the cloaca but inside the latch cover. (most common latch. see Thorn, Humina, Melon)

If a Male has a 'Female style' latch (resembles a pseudo vagina. see Honeydew, Fife, Thrush) the penis is merely shifted up and shares the cavity with the developing offspring. A thick membrane is formed as a protective barrier to prevent injury.
