| Okay this thread is sorta like a WIP thread, that kinda doubles up as a tutorial, i guess. I'll be posting WIP of some of my pictures here, and if you learn a new techinique thats great, i'm also learning and experimenting, so yeah. ^_^ At the moment i'm currently working on a picking using a new technique, this is Cucumber, my snail character. She's a green snail. BTW there are some bad ass deep sea snails out there, one thats actually inspired to make an ebil Grimm dweller. Anyway the picture so far. Basically i'm using Paint Tool Sai, i lay down the flat colour and then acted as if i was inking in black using the pen tool and blended the black in with water tool.(two favourate tools) The first one is the picture without the sketch and the second is with the sketch. Click Hereclick here too. | |

| nuu hair! XD You can get away with hair on most bugs, since most bugs have some sort or fur, how ever snails have no such thing, plus i think it add to her androginus look, which is something thats always been a challeng for me, cos i suck at men, even pretty ones. I just kinda wanted her to look both male and female, the eyes and blump lips are feminine, but the large hands and bald head are masculine. She does have 'breasts' but their what we call bee stings XD Just adding another WIP, starting to add lines, dunno if i'll keep them, they seem to look okay XD click here | |

| Are you going to give your snail fem. curves or keep it pretty straight? Whenever I look at body anatomy I noticed some people who draw guys tended to draw them without curves to make them seem masculine. XD
It's just my opinion, but: I would add a secondary, stronger light, at the bottom of each outline to give her a kind of glossy look. X3

X3 yeah i was gonna give her a semi curvy look, even when i attempt to draw men they have little waists and big hips...Women are just so much easier to draw, all curvy lines and simple shapes....bleh male anatomy is sooo hard.

| SAI is a *great* program. Love it muchly, I do. And I love the sort of withdrawn pose for some reason... It makes her look kind of shy, but her expression suggests otherwise. It's a nice contrast. FLIRTY SNAIL. XD
Also, one thing... x: Aren't land snails (I'm assuming she is) hermaphroditic like slugs are (same sort of creature, just various evolutionary differences)? This is kind of a moot point since you can make Cucumber whatever you want. XD To note, though, asexual would imply that the creature reproduces on its own without fertilization from a partner. Hermaphroditic would imply that the creature possesses both spermatozoa and ova, meaning they could reproduce with either sex. Asking/mentioning just because of something I noted in the profile, which listed her as asexual despite saying that she could produce offspring with either sex. ._.;; Not harping, just confused. XD; Before someone gets the idea of the former... /delayed biogeek is delayed

I'll fix that in the profile ^_^...

| Confusion happens. We discover and we are no longer confused. 8D Lawl, there are even other critters that can produce asexually that you'd think would need a partner--turkeys and two species of sharks can produce on their own. o_O This was very confusing to learn. xD I was just trying to figure out which one you'd meant in the profile. :B I share extra informationz. | |
