Yay, Ten Buggies!

...Just. Yanno. XD Not so much "yay" as much as "Yay I'm drawing again". I'll probably draw more tomorrow, but this guy just kinda came to mind earlier, as seen in the blurb!note in my profiles list.

XD; But I'm thinking about giving him a blue/bright green colour scheme, since he's not based on anything in particular, and I lack an obnoxiously brightly coloured bug so far. And I love blue. XD

Working on a sketch of Sibyl now, and I was playing with Pummelo's colour scheme earlier. Still unnamed moving leaf buggie will probably get a sketch next.

...and I should scan the half-assed doodle page of Jonquil and Plantain. I love Plantain's hair.

He's so cool. I'm loving that smirk and the 'What? Why yes, I AM that cool.' look on his face. And his antennas.. Long live those looooong antennas. XD

When Plantain (a character acting more as a personal NPC than an actual character) is the roughest character I've managed, it's time for me to make a bratty little asshat. Which is what Pummelo kind of is, despite his good-natured picking on people. His attitude is very much that.

Excuse the rough colouring, but these are the two colour palettes I've figured for Pum so far.

I'm leaning toward the second one because of the consistency, but at the same time, it's not really bright enough. I don't know why he's so difficult. XD

I would say blue and yellow....the solid blue one has too much blue, but the yellow on the paler one is just pleasing to the eyes, like a sunny day.

I love that colour combination--that particular shade of yellow-orange and the darker of the blues in that first palette are the colours of my walls. XD I'm just worried that the yellow-orange overpowers the blue or doesn't make sense by way of placement. But I guess Pummelo wouldn't mind since it draws attention places. -brick'd-

After a bit of thought, I'm keeping the first colour scheme. :3 One alteration to it that I'm considering is making his eyes that same yellow-orange or a different shade of yellow, if not another colour altogether. I want to avoid giving all my kids blue eyes (even though blue is, by far, my favourite colour), and Jonquil's are already while Plantain's are a darker blue. XD Ginseng's are a pretty green, if I stick with that.

Diving Beetle girl (with fluffy antennae--I couldn't help myself XD) who needs a name. I have a number in a list, including a lot of actual names, but I can't think of one for her. I was, at one point, considering "Nixie", as they're water sprites and rather unpleasant things at that (they're noted for being rather belligerent toward men), and she's certainly not someone whose bad side you want to get on, but I'm not sure if I want to get into critter names or real names just yet.

Not totally pleased with her design just yet, so input's great. Been trying to keep her armour "angled" downward, since she's a swimming critter.

I think 'Nixie' sounds a bit too cute for her. She looks more devious than sweet.

Panda- Yeah, I kept going "eh" at it, but it kept coming up when I was looking for water-relevant names. But I'm fail and the only water-relevant names I can think of are mangled versions of "water", "aqua", "aqueous", "aquatic", "marine", and a few others. XD; And then I start defaulting to Greek words and go "but that doesn't fit either"... I am so bad at naming things based on nouns/adjectives, but I wanna stick to the basic scheme of things. XD If she were a chubchub giant of a beetle, I'd have no qualms naming her "Watermelon", though. XD

And Zarashi, knowing her, she probably has. She's a bit of a whack-job, to put it mildly. Not psychotic enough to hit the level of serial killer, but antisocial enough to have fun offing a person. XD

To be honest, my biggest problem with her design is her head. XD The shape looks really awkward to me and it doesn't seem to fit right with the rest of her.

How about 'Naias'? That's a waternymph in latin :3
Or 'Lympha' -> 'clear water'

I like both of those~ Though I think I'll be a nerd and go with Naias for obvious Greek reference. 8D

Aaaaaaaaaaaand I has a 'pillar. This is a very, very messy concept thing, but I'll be cleaning it up as I go. :3 But he's complete enough to post here.

I like his feets. A lot. Yaaay, Silkie Bantam Chickens.

I did end up drawing him a little too long in the chest department in the page of madness, though the iScribble doodle is about right as far as proportions go. Things'll start matching up as I get used to drawing him.

His girlyparts might be a bit big, though... Hm. Totally up for suggestions on his design, too. XD Horns are kind of stand-in until I find a design that works better, I think.
